Shahada / Testimony of Faith
Welcome to the Islamic Center of Richmond’s Shahada / Testimony of Faith. The Shahada, or testimony of faith, is a fundamental declaration that marks one’s entrance into the Islamic faith. It serves as a powerful affirmation of belief in the oneness of Allah and the prophethood of Muhammad (peace be upon him).
What is Shahada?
The Shahada, often recited in Arabic as "La ilaha illallah, Muhammadur Rasulullah," translates to "There is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah." By proclaiming the Shahada, one bears witness to the central tenets of Islam, affirming the belief in the monotheistic nature of Allah and the prophethood of Muhammad (peace be upon him).
